On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the German news magazine Focus selected 25 people who decisively shape the world of today and tomorrow. Amongst them also Dr. Michael Thiel who thereby ranks among the major pioneers of our time. The CSO and co-founder of Nanoscribe GmbH – one of the most successful high-tech companies in Germany of the last years – hopes that Germany will grow more curiosity and more courage for new ideas in the future.
Dr. Michael Thiel, Nanoscribe’s co-founder has been awarded with the title European CTO of the Year 2016. The jury emphasized especially his passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. The European CTO of the Year is one of the most prestigious European awards honouring excellence in technology and innovation leadership, awarded by EIRMA (European Industrial Research Management Association) and Spinverse (Nordic leader in innovation consulting). Since its launch in 2014, it has been given to CTOs who are both inspiring leaders and competent technology developers.
In the German MIT Technology Review competition, our Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer (CSO) Dr. Michael Thiel was chosen one of 10 “Innovators under 35”. This honors pioneers for years now, each of them developing solutions for major global challenges through a variety of approaches. With the excellent performance features, precision and multitude of applications of the Photonic Professional GT, Nanoscribe has established itself as market leader in the field of 3D printing on the micrometer scale within just a few years.
Within the “Young Elite” series, the business magazine “Capital” selected Martin Hermatschweiler (37) as one of Germany’s 40 most-talented entrepreneurs younger than 40 years old. All nominees caught attention with their groundbreaking business ideas, outstanding achievements, striking success, and promising potential under the banner of “Disruption and Innovation.” Hermatschweiler, physicist and co-founder of Nanoscribe, has managed the high-tech company since its founding.
We are very honored to be winner of the World Technology Network (“WTN”) Award 2015 in the category “Materials.” The prizes have been announced at 14th Annual World Technology Summit & Awards Gathering in New York City (US) at the end of 2015. Each year, the WTN recognizes the best and brightest in their fields and the organizations on the cutting edge of technological innovation. The topnotch international community of WTN brings together many of the world’s leading technologists, scientists, futurists, policymakers and entrepreneurs and also comprises several Nobel laureates.
In 2015, Nanoscribe has succeeded in reaching the final of the German Founders’ Award in the ‘rising star’ category (Aufsteiger) with its prizewinning 3D printer for the micrometer scale. Hence in the view of the Founders’ Award experts the company represents one of the most successful start-ups in recent years in Germany. The selecting jury, which votes on behalf of the Founders’ Prize partners, stern magazine, the Sparkasse savings bank network, ZDF television channel and Porsche, were equally impressed by the ground-breaking capacities of the product and the entrepreneurial expertise of the founders. According to one of the jurors, Nanoscribe is “a picture book high tech start-up.”
The winners of the 2014 Prism Awards were announced in San Francisco (USA) during the SPIE Photonics West exhibition. Nanoscribe´s 3D printer Photonic Professional GT was awarded for the most innovative product in the category ”Advanced Manufacturing”. The unrivaled 3D laser lithography system, introduced in the spring of 2013, convinced the jury of its excellent performance, accuracy and tremendous speed-up for the fabrication of nano- and microstructures.
Nanoscribe was awarded with a special prize in the category "Spin-off companies from universities / research centers" at the CyberChampions Awards 2011/12 in Karlsruhe (Germany). The price was sponsored by tech-solute and endowed with 1,500 euros.
In 2008, Nanoscribe received the Otto-Haxel-Preis for its high-performance laser lithography system. This award, endowed with a financial reward, honors KIT scientists who actively strive for the industrial implementation of their research.
